Most of us know that mainstream media is nothing more than the mouthpiece of the ruling elite. The media doesn’t stand for the people or the land. Thanks to the Internet and social media, we have the power to circumvent the media.

We can, and must, help our brothers and sisters at Standing Rock by sharing the truth of what is taking place there. We need to share video footage and interviews with those on the ground. The media will not do this for us. The media are anti-truth.

This standoff is about far more than Standing Rock, although that is incredibly important. It is about the people of this world standing up to the powers that seek to dominate, crush and control us. It is about all of us – regardless of colour, nationality or religion – uniting TOGETHER.

The future of our planet is at stake. Do we choose to protect our beautiful lands or do accept that we are nothing more than slaves, obedient consumers? We’ve got to decide. Now!

I am alarmed that so many people, friends, relatives and neighbours, are indifferent to what is happening. Don’t you get it????? The Native Americans are YOU. The people of Syria are YOU. We are One People and it’s imperative that we support each other and Mother Earth.

If you’re broke or time poor, you can still help. You can share what is happening. You can talk about it in your communities to spread awareness. But please, don’t turn away. One day soon, you will be next. You better believe it.

Sometimes you have to sit down and allow the tears to silently flow. Some days, it’s all you can do. You get days when your heart just feels exhausted, when your spirit needs a break. On days like this, just do it.

Some days the love in your heart gets overwhelmed by the brutality of life. You just don’t understand how you ended up here. Don’t berate your gentle nature. Allow yourself this day. It’s necessary. It’s medicine.

Tears are a sane response to an insane world. Don’t forgive yourself. There is nothing to forgive. You are an angel from the skies. You know this and that’s why it hurts so much.

Pain is okay, although it’s not what you deserve. Let the pain be. Please let the pain be. Don’t deny it or turn away. It has a gift for you. Allow the tears to do their bidding. They are sacred. Like spring water, they cleanse and replenish.

Create a space within your vastness to let it all be exactly as it is. And remember, I love you. Who is this ‘I’ that is here for you no matter what? Don’t you know?

Dig deep and remember. Feel me. I am your memory for when you forget. I am your lover when you feel loveless. I am your home. The door that is always open. I am the laughter that coaxes a smile from your lips. I am your faithful friend that can’t be turned. I am your everything. Always present. Forever yours.

I breathe life into being. I close in around your final moments to call you home. To me. To you. It’s okay. Always and forever. Together. Even now when your need is great. I am here. With you. By your side. There is never anything to fear. You and I are invincible.

Have you made your mind up? I haven’t. Not about anything. I am open and receptive. I listen to words, but I realise they only form a tiny part of the incoming information. Truly, we need to get out of our heads more of the time and tune into the energetic field of data that surrounds us. I am prepared to intuitively make decisions moment by moment. In the Now. When we approach life with a concrete script of how we will respond to this and that we are always lagging behind what is happening right now. Our power is accessed in the space between each heartbeat. It’s dynamic, fluid, constantly redefining itself because we are responsive beings intimately connected to everything else. When one element of the whole alters, everything shifts. Our intelligence isn’t time bound, it’s free, open ended and yet it’s always with us. But we have to be here, in the immediacy of our being, to access it fully.

You know how to make the world a peaceful place to live, you were born knowing. To you it seems as simple as ABC. You hold peace, joy, love, unity and compassion within your being. You are a living container holding the access codes for a new earth within you.

It is hard for you, living in this density within a world of polarity. You look out at the world and you wait. Every time you think that we are on the brink of positive change, you brace yourself. You are ready. And then, something happens to stop it. This happens over and over and you wonder, will humankind ever be ready?

In many ways you are a child, in that you simply can’t compute the cruelty and selfishness of this world. You don’t fit in, most likely you never have. You feel as though you live on the periphery of life. Watching, waiting, hoping. You know about the prophecies. So you stand firm, knowing that a time will come when this nonsensical world will fall into place and at long last make perfect sense to you and your kind.

You feel like an messenger from the future. Of course, you make mistakes too. You are imperfect. But through all the pain and struggle you are connected to a wisdom, a knowledge that you haven’t learnt but have always known. And it is this innate wisdom that has shaped you.

You feel truth rather than discern it through mental faculties. You feel compelled to share what you know in full understanding that most of it will fall on deaf ears, but you tell it all the same.

You may well die without realising that you have already fulfilled your purpose. Because purpose isn’t measured by the numbers of people you have reached, but in the depth and intensity of each encounter. You may only reach one soul, but that one soul could then be the one who will reach many. This is the way. And you are the way.

I think we are all shell shocked today by the news from the USA. I’m trying to allow it to settle and discover if there is anything positive to take from this. Trump isn’t a good man, no matter which angle you look at it from. But, maybe, just maybe we ought not to be trying to understand Trump the man, but Trump the symbol.

As a symbol, he represents all that is wrong with this world. He is the epitome of out of control ego. He’s a racist, xenophobe and a sexist. He is greedy, dishonest, ignorant and aggressive. All those negative qualities condensed into one human being out there on the world stage and under the spotlight for everyone to see. Why?

There is a reason. Nothing in this world is without reason. It seems to me that Trump is here to heal us by showing us hidden aspects of ourselves. None of us are perfect. Trump is an extreme exaggeration of everything that needs to come up for clearing within ourselves.

As the lyric in the Rolling Stones song goes, “you don’t always get what you want, sometimes you get what you need.” Do we need Trump? Perhaps we do. The majority in the USA not only need him, they appear to want him too. But what about the rest of us? What does Trump embody that we need to learn from?

Humanity is at a crossroads. The planet can’t take much more of ego driven man and the devastation he wreaks. But, still, we don’t quite believe it. Still. After all the warnings. We still don’t get it. Perhaps Trump is here to show us in all his awfulness how NOT to do it. He is a man, with not one iota of experience as a politician who has managed to secure the most powerful position on the entire planet. You literally couldn’t make this up.

Now, here’s an uncomfortable thought. It could be that we DESERVE Trump. An enlightened, heart orientated society would NEVER in a million years elect him as president, yet here he is larger than life about to take up the mantle as ‘leader of the free world’. Perhaps when he has served a term in The White House, we will realise what we DON’T want with far greater clarity and choose better next time.

Maybe, as Trump begins his journey as president, we will learn how to recalibrate our hearts and minds to explore better ways of being in this world. Trump will mess up. It is inevitable. How will we respond? Will we mirror his behaviour, will we adopt his mindset or will we learn from his mistakes? As within, so without.

When we suffer a catastrophic loss, such as the passing of a loved one, we enter into a period of profound sadness. We don’t wish the sadness away or try to avoid it. Instead we sit with the sadness because we intuitively know that it is a healthy response to our loss. If we are brave, we open in trust to the sadness and allow its medicine to guide us through the process of mourning. This is beneficial sadness. It has a purpose, and it’s purpose is healing and cleansing. This type of sadness is viewed by society as acceptable and depending on the culture we are a part of, it is at worst tolerated and at best it is honoured.

When, however, we are sad without obvious purpose or a reason we can discern, we try with all our might to ‘cheer up’, ‘pull ourselves together’ or failing that, self medicate in a variety of ways. The sadness feels unwelcome, like an uninvited guest. Some people call this type of sadness depression. They go to their doctor and come away with a bottle of pills to make it go away. But it doesn’t go away. Instead it gets buried. Buried doesn’t mean gone, it means hidden from view. For some people medication seems like a solution. And perhaps it is. But maybe there is a different approach, a more holistic approach, that could turn the black dog of depression into a healing tool.

The problem with sadness that appears to have no obvious cause, or depression, is that society in general doesn’t tolerate it, yet alone honour it. It is seen as a sign of weakness, a shameful flaw in an otherwise fully functioning individual.

And that’s the problem. Fully functioning should mean balance and harmony, but in today’s world, it tends to mean that we are efficiently outputting. In other words, it means that we are producing and consuming. A depressed person doesn’t do much of either. What they really want is space and time to enter into a state of deep reflection, communion with nature and unhurried being.

Imagine if the natural response to unexplained sadness or depression was to honour the process in much the same way we honour the grieving process. Instead of meeting depression with shame or attacking it with medication, we approached it reverently, with the utmost compassion and gentle curiosity. Perhaps then we could learn a thing or two about ourselves and our relationship with the world. Perhaps we can intuit what our depression is pointing to. Because depression is, I believe, a symptom rather than a condition in itself. So if we treat it like a symptom, it makes sense to try and track that symptom back to its cause. When we find the cause, we can begin to heal ourselves back into balance.

All around the world people are joining together energetically to support the Standing Rock Sioux. It’s an awakening, the like of which we’ve never seen before. A million people electronically checked-in to the reservation yesterday. Their aim? To support and help protect their brothers and sisters at Standing Rock.

What happened was remarkable. It demonstrated that when we stand together as One regardless of colour, race and nationality, we are more than capable of standing up to and overcoming the ruling elite. This is one of the first examples of the 99% rising up against the corrupt and power crazed 1%. This mass check-in should give us all an inkling of what is possible when we unite for the highest good of all.

But this is only the beginning. The ruling elite aren’t going to capitulate without a fight. They have massive resources at their disposal. But, their Achilles heel is their predictability. What they will do, and always do, is seek to divide us. That’s the only way they ever win. They divert our attention away from whatever it is they are doing that we don’t want them to do and offer up a scapegoat for us to hate and vilify. And if that doesn’t work, they manufacture an event to distract us.

We’ve all got to get wise to how they operate. You cannot trust the police, military or government; they represent big business and the ruling elite, not you. And you certain can’t trust their mouthpiece, mainstream media. The sooner we all realise that our true allies are each other, the better. And by each other, I mean people of all nationalities.

We’ve got to establish networks of communication and cooperation that completely bypass state run institutions. Our world has been divided up into separate regions. It’s not just about national identity and geographical location. It’s a method that builds imaginary walls between people. And a divided people are a weakened people.

Moving forward, we have no need of walls and man made borders. As we move into a state of unity, we need to express that fundamental shift externally in the world. What we are moving towards is a seismic shift, an evolutionary leap, that requires us to learn to be simultaneously autonomous AND radically united.

It’s something that has never been experienced, a new way of living and being in the world. Autonomy and unity appear to be diametrically opposed, and that is the challenge. We have to learn to embody both ways of being and interacting with each other. It’s a path that once established will transform our inner and outer landscape. It requires us to dig deep and move from the unconscious knee jerk reactivity of an immature culture to a mindful, heart centred mature society.

As part of the process we will learn that each and every one of us has to become accountable for our world. We will no longer enjoy the luxury of placing blame on government and other structures of authority. The buck will stop with us. In truth, it always has but we have not chosen to recognise it.

Loving ourselves exactly as we are

I’ve been and am still going through a process with my body. Due to medication I’ve been taking, I’ve gained 28 pounds in just over a year. I’ve learnt a lot about my body and my relationship with it that I think could help others.

First and foremost, I’ve learnt that long term positive change only occurs when we act out of love for our bodies. That is why diets don’t work. Diets are like wars, we are literally mounting a war on ourselves and the motivation is hate.

We try to beat our bodies into submission. This impulse arises out of self loathing for our physical form. It may work for a time, but its unsustainable. At some point, we run out of steam because hate, disgust and self loathing are negative emotions that damage us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. And they are so draining. We just can’t keep it up.

The best way to affect positive and healthy changes to our bodies is to forget all about dieting. Instead, we open our hearts to the miraculous wonder that is our physical body. We tune into the body and ask it what it wants and needs to feel good, to feel healthy. And then we wait. We observe what feels good to eat. And not just while we are eating it, but afterwards.

We forget all about calories and targets which are always future orientated. Instead we practice mindfulness as we prepare and eat food. We learn to love our bodies just as they are, unconditionally and with reverence. When we do this, our bodies respond.

Through our intuition, our bodies speak to us. They tell us what we need to feel strong, clean and healthy. When we do this we foster trust. We trust our bodies to show us what we need and our bodies respond by bringing us good health and balance. This loving approach to health really works. I hope my insights help anyone that is overweight, underweight or out of physical balance in any way.

Taking Offence

taking offenceIs it just me, or is the average person’s capacity to hear and see things they don’t agree with without taking personal offence diminishing? There are many, many things I don’t agree with, things that don’t dovetail comfortably with my morals and ideals, but I let them go.

Taking offence, or believing and acting as though our point of view is the right one, is such an egotistical stance. And I come across all these outraged people who’s sense of equilibrium is so easily disturbed. It’s like they are professional objectors! Almost anything can set them off. Politics, religion, lifestyle choices. Whatever happened to live and let live?

It’s as if people think they have this innate right to sail through life with everything and everyone mirroring their own personal take on life. And if others behave in a way that disturbs them, they see that as a viable reason for whatever is bothering them to stop. It’s crazy!

Is it diversity that upsets them? Uniqueness? Or maybe professional objectors are simply unsure of what they stand for, or who they actually are? Maybe their sense of self is so precarious and fragile, that anything different is seen as a threat?

In the late 80’s, people got so upset by the New Age Travellers. They hated these people who’s only crime, as far as I can tell, was choosing a life on the road, travelling from place to place in converted buses, coaches and camper vans. For me, they typified freedom. I knew a lot of them. They were good people, modern day gypsies. Many of them were artists and musicians. The Tory government soon put a stop to their way of life, creating laws that prohibited people travelling in groups on the roads. I was sad to see them go.

Every country and culture needs people like the New Age Travellers. So what if they were on benefits. Most creatives and free spirits need a little help along the way as they forge new ways of being. Without the inspirers, the renegades, a society stagnates. So, for me, I see them and people like them who live on the outer edges of society, as national treasures, people to nurture.

Perhaps a lot of the people who take offence at the way others choose to live are motivated by jealousy? Maybe they secretly admire those that choose a different way to express but feel unable to do so themselves? Maybe they just lack the courage to step away from the crowd and ruffle a few feathers…

Cosmic Pauses: Letting It All Go

cosmic pauseI’m having one of those days when lots of little things are getting under my skin. I’m safe, I’m fed and I’ve got a roof over my head. So it’s time to let the small stuff go. It doesn’t matter. We don’t get to control everything, but if we think we do and reality doesn’t match up, we end up creating tension within ourselves.

My dog just re-minded me of that. He’s a bit of a Zen master. He doesn’t use words. But he doesn’t need to – his eyes do all the talking for him. I tuned into him just now. We locked eyes. His eyes are warm pools of gentleness and patience. They told me to ease up, take a few deep breaths and allow life to be how life wants to be. He’s gone to sleep now. His job is done. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a dog or a cat. Seriously, I’m not going mad. What I’m talking about – the wisdom that channelled through my dog – is available to everyone, all the time.

I call them, these moments of healing wisdom, Cosmic Pauses. They’re everywhere because this world of form is punctuated by gateways that can be used to access everything we need to lead a harmonious life. They appear in nature, in music, in art and they’re waiting for you to notice them.

When you stop, however briefly, and rest your attention on a thing of beauty, you bring yourself into alignment within the animating force behind it. You’re aligning with the source of beauty, stillness and silence that resides at the core of life – at the core of YOU. In the world of form, all these expressions of life appear separate, however in the realm beyond form, there is only the One.

When you stop and consciously reconnect, you’re affirming non verbally that you are hooked up and provided for in every way. You can sense your support system everywhere, and the illusion of separateness softens. If you are feeling tired, you begin to feel the life force boosting your energy levels. If you are sad, you feel tendrils of life’s joyous expression embrace you and lead you into your heart’s joy. If you are afraid, you sense the indomitable power of life and realise that same power runs through your veins. And if you’re feeling agitated, you feel the calm, patience of life seep into your mind, bringing you peace.

All these qualities are your qualities. You possess them all in abundance. Make a space for them in your life. Press pause and breathe deeply. Inhale them. Welcome them. Your body is a vessel. Fill it wisely.
